What is the process of dethatching?

I had rented a dethatching machine to dethatch my lawn but would like to know what does dethatching actually mean and also would like to know the best way to get rid of moles in my yard?

A dethatcher is basically a highly efficient powered rake designed to remove remains of cut grass, clumps of grass root, and other debris that collects in your grass so that the lawn can grow to its full potential.

Right now, our expertise in the Gardening Expert Answer section is in the equipment you use to take care of your lawn and garden such as tractors, mowers, and edgers. So unless your dethatcher has a mechanical issue I do not have much more to offer on dethatching or your mole concerns (unless you find someone with a "de-moler" machine and it turns out not to work).

Although we currently have limited advice on lawn care here in the Expert Answers section, you may want to check out the “Ideas and Know-How” section of Manage My Home. The articles and links in the Gardening and Landscaping categories cover everything from the basics of lawn care to the sophisticated.

We're always trying to improve the site based on what our members are looking for, so stay tuned. Thanks for your question and let us know if we can help in any other way.

This is a great place to go for advice, especially if you're low on funds and you could resolve the problem before calling and paying a service call, if it's an easy fix. I'm glad you are there for me.
