What are the rules for doors from the house to the garage?
Have a client who wishes to put a door into the garage from the house so that they have access from the house. What procedure must be followed / by-laws etc. to be met?

It can vary slightly from place to place, but basically it must be:
- a fire-rated or exterior grade door
- weather-stripped to prevent fumes from entering the house
- have a self closing mechanism
- the door cannot open into a bedroom
- should be 6-inch step down into garage
