What are the implications of uninsulated outdoor combustion air ducts?
Installation error can result in an uninsulated duct.
Condensation and rusting on the duct, and possible overheating of nearby combustibles are the implications.
If you can see the duct, determine whether it is insulated. Where it is not, check with local authorities to determine whether it is required.
If the duct is encased in concrete, it probably won't be insulated. There is no combustible clearance issue, and less of a condensation issue (although it still may cause a problem).
