I rent a place with a Sears Craftsman 1/2 HP garage door opener Model #139.53660srt1. The plastic drive gears were stripped so I replaced them. Upon putting it back together the garage door opener travel approx. 3 ft up and down then stops. The green light on the garage door opener blinks 5 times. I replaced the RPM chip and nothing changed. Any help is greatly appreciated. Dave
The most likely problem is that the door lift mechanism or limiter switches are out of sync. The unit may be reversing before reaching the limit setting due to the mechanisms being out of sync and that triggers the flashing fault code.
There could also be some binding, either with the door lift assembly or at some point between the gears that were install that is also causing a reverse. There is additional information in the links below that should help with testing the issues you are facing.
A final issue could be with the logic board or motor itself, possibly an incorrect wiring connection or a connector hooked-up off center so not all the pins are reading. If nothing here or in the links helps you might be in need of a logic board or possibly the motor or another component which might have failed coincidentally.
