What could cause my Craftsman garage door opener to only travel about 4-6 inches after replacing the gear

I just replaced the gear assembly on my 1/2 HP Craftsman Garage Door opener (model # 13953647SRT1). Now it will only travel about 4-6 inches and then reverses back. I does it in either direction. There are no flashing lights or anything. I fiddled with the limit switches & force adjustment, swapped the RPM board, etc. No luck so far. Any ideas?

Try pushing and holding the wall switch in. If the door works like that, the problem is in the safety sensors on the door. If it doesn't work something is wrong in the rpm sensor circuit. You might need to get a technician to diagnose and repair the problem.

Press the remote and watch the LED on the back of the motor unit. It should flash a code to let you know what is wrong.

This is a great place to go for advice, especially if you're low on funds and you could resolve the problem before calling and paying a service call, if it's an easy fix. I'm glad you are there for me.
