My ex has my garage door programmed into a new feature in his car and can open it without a remote. Can I change my remote and opener so he can't get in?

You can erase the memory on your opener and reprogram your remotes and keyless entry. I am not sure what kind of device is in the car, but most in-car transmitters require input from the opener in order to program so erasing the memory on your opener should block-out the device unless he has access to one of your remotes or to the opener to reprogram it.

The model number you supplied looks like a part number instead, but there should be another number on the overhead opener that starts with a "139" prefix. You can use that number and the instructions in the link below to find your manual online for full programming information.

For most newer-style Craftsman openers with an SRT or Smart button on them the instructions in the links below should also work to erase the memory and reprogram.

If you are still concerned you may want to contact the car manufacturer for more information on how the in-car device works since that component would have been developed by them and not by Sears.

This is a great place to go for advice, especially if you're low on funds and you could resolve the problem before calling and paying a service call, if it's an easy fix. I'm glad you are there for me.
