I don't have the manual to program a garage door opener. Large button works with hardwired tabs. Back of remote says Canada K727 139.53778
If you check your overhead opener unit there will be a model number that starts with a "139" prefix just like the model number on your remote. You can use that number and the instructions in the link below to view the manual online for full programming instructions.
That remote still used dipswitches, which might be what you were referring to as tabs. On openers that used dipswitches the programmed basically entailed setting the dipswitches in the opener and each remote to the same settings. The same two up and the rest down for example.
Sometimes a switch gets corroded and no longer makes contact which can throw off programming attempts but often moving the switch back and forth a couple times will clear the contacts and allow it to work again.
