Why must I constantly push the wall switch to get the garage door closed?

The garage door opener will not put the garage door all the way down. You must constantly push the wall mounted switch to get it all the way down. Model #13953648srt2, Craftsman garage door opener.

If you mean that you have to hold the wall switch down until the door is all the way down or the door reverses back to open then you likely have a problem with the safety sensors. In that case you might also have the overhead light flashing if the door automatically reverses back to open.

If you mean that the door moves a short distance then stops and you push the button again to move it further and further down until it is almost closed then you might have an issue with the RPM sensor or some other short or binding.

I have included links below with more information relating to these types of symptoms. Your owner's manual will also have some basic troubleshooting steps that might locate and resolve the issue for you. If these do not help please resubmit a question with a little more detailed symptom descriptions and we will do all we can to assist further.

This is a great place to go for advice, especially if you're low on funds and you could resolve the problem before calling and paying a service call, if it's an easy fix. I'm glad you are there for me.
