Why do I have to hold the garage door remote outside the car window to get it to work?

I have a garage door opener that the remotes do not have any distance. They have new batteries. I have reprogrammed it twice to see if that was the problem but it is still the same. I have to hold the remote outside the car window to get it to open.

By far the most common problem to limit the range of your remote is some form of interference in the same frequency range as your remote. Just like your favorite radio stations can sometimes not get reception or even pick up some other station, the signals going from your remote can be blocked by other signals in the same range.

If the problem only effects one remote the problem could be a failing remote that needs to be replaced or it could be that your logic board has a problem but if the problem is the same with both remotes and they both have good batteries then this is most likely your problem. It is possible that adding an antenna kit might help some but the only real cure will be to find the source of interference and stop it if possible. The links below have more details and information that might also help.

This is a great place to go for advice, especially if you're low on funds and you could resolve the problem before calling and paying a service call, if it's an easy fix. I'm glad you are there for me.
