Why does my garage door opener open and shut when plugging it in?
I have a Kenmore garage door opener model number 139.655000. The opener part that plugs in for the remote seems to have gone haywire. The wall remote works fine. Since the opener is older and already here when we move in, we don't know where to begin.

This garage door opener is an older model that does not include the proper safety features that are now required by UL (Underwriter Laboratories) on the current models. Sears no longer repairs these older models due to the lack of proper safety devices. Also, most of the replacement parts are no longer available for this model. Instead of attempting to repair this older model, I highly recommend that you replace it with a new one.
The new models will have the proper safety features to prevent accidents and injuries.
