How can I program my keyless entry model number 139.53684 for a temporary code?
I cannot locate my manual, and the manual that I have accessed on line doesn't seem to have instructions on setting up a temporary code.

The information you need is in the owners manual for your garage door opener. The model you entered here is for the keyless entry and the manual for it won't tell you how to program it.
You should get the model number off of the opener. It is on the back of the unit that is mounted to the ceiling where the motor is. Use that number to access the manual and it will cover reprogramming your keyless entry.
You can check for the manual online at Manage My Home. On the home page, hold your mouse over the square labeled "HOME" in the upper left of the page. Choose the option "Find product manuals" from the drop-down menu that appears.
