Why won't my remotes program properly?

I'm having trouble reprogramming the transmitters on my garage door (fcc id# HBW1127). I program one and the other stops working. I tried clearing the code and the opener will still only take the first opener to be programmed. After clearing the codes, I notice that the yellow LED flashes on the receiver when I press either transmitter. As soon as I program the first receiver, the LED on the receiver no longer flashes when I press the second one to program it. I have tried clearing the code and starting with the other transmitter but get the same result - the first one takes but not the second. Any help?

It sounds like you might have the wrong type of remotes for your opener. I have included a link at the bottom of the page with more information.

Unfortunately the fcc number will not help identify what type remotes they are. According to your Manage My Home profile you have a 139.53927 opener so, provided there are no letters missing from the end of that model number, you would need either the 09.139. 53680 or 09.009. 53681 remotes.

If your remotes both worked with your opener in the past and their batteries are not low then you might have a failed remote or a problem with the logic board in the overhead opener not accepting signals properly or properly erasing its memory. The links below also have information that might help with testing and programming remotes and clearing the opener memory. If nothing seems to help, you may want to consult a professional for more in depth testing to confirm if the logic board needs replacing as a logic board can cost almost as much to replace as purchasing a completely new opener.

This is a great place to go for advice, especially if you're low on funds and you could resolve the problem before calling and paying a service call, if it's an easy fix. I'm glad you are there for me.
