With good batteries in the remotes and both developing a problem suddenly the most likely cause is some form of interference or a problem with the receiver/logic board in your opener.

Since the problem began last week, start by seeing if anything changed at that time. A new phone service or appliance or car with an on-star or built in remote? Or maybe a new powerline in the area or a neighbor installing something?

Sometimes testing the opener as you turn off power breakers can help pinpoint a problem source. For example, if you turn off the breaker for your Living Room power and your opener suddenly works properly it is likely something added or changed in your Living Room is the source of your interference. You could also consult a professional who has a meter to help track signals and signal strength in specific frequency ranges.

If you can't find a source of interference there might be a problem with the signal reception in which case an antenna kit might help or you might need to replace the logic board which receives the signal. You should try everything possible to locate any possible interference before replacing or adding components though. If the interference does not change you might find the result with new components is no better than what you currently have.
