How do I remove the RPM sensor from my garage door opener?

How do I remove the RPM sensor when installing a gear and sprocket repair kit?

The black plastic interrupter cup just slides off the motor shaft. The shaft bearing kit behind the cup will come off once you loosen the set screw that holds it to the motor shaft.

You can view a drawing of how the parts fit together at . Just enter your model number and choose to view the opener diagram. For the model 13953674SRT2 opener listed in your Manage My Home profile the interrupter cup is key number 18 and the shaft bearing kit is key 17.

Changing the gear and sprocket assembly is a major repair so if you have any remaining concerns you may want to consult a professional.
