The model number of my garage door opener is 13953662SRT2. I can not get the door opener to accept 2 remotes at once. I can get one to program, but not the other. However, if I clear the codes, I can get the other one to work. I know it's not the remotes. Something with the opener itself is stopping it from accepting both remotes. It was working fine last week and just stopped and I'm pulling my hair out trying to figure this thing out.
Thanks for sending the model number of your garage door opener. By the model number your garage door opener is a rolling code opener. The remotes should be part number 53681 and should have blue buttons. You indicated that they used to work together, but it sounds like you have one rolling code remote and one billion code remote. If that is the case the garage door opener will accept either remote but not both at the same time. Double check the part numbers on the back of the remotes and the color of the buttons. If one is gray, it is a billion code remote.
If both remotes have blue buttons one of them has failed, this is unusual but it sometimes happens. If that is the case you need to buy a new remote and see which one of your original remotes will program with the new one. Destroy the one that won't program to avoid future problems.
I am having a very similar problem with my new remote. Had door opener #139.53964 SRT. Had the small gray remote that came with it - has 3 blue buttons. Needed second remote for second car using that garage door - purchased 3 gray button remote, p/n 953879, brand new from Sears store - guy at the store said it would work. I can only program one remote or the other - when I set one the other stops working and vice versa. I have also lost the usability of my outside keypad - its not working. What should I do, need both remotes to work and the outside keypad too.
