Why did my remotes and keyless entry stop working?

I was trying to reprogram one of my remotes for an SRT Opener, following instructions in an expert response I found, but now only the wall button inside the garage works. What happened to my remotes and my keyless entry?

You were probably using the answer in the link below, or one similar to it, and the SRT button was held down too long when entering programming mode.

The SRT button on the overhead Opener panel should be pushed and then released. If the button is held for about 6 seconds, the indicator light next to it turns off and all codes in the memory are erased. Your remotes and keyless have stopped working because the opener no longer recognizes their signals. You will need to reprogram all your remotes and your keyless to get them communicating again.

Reprogram your Remotes as follows:

  1. Press and hold whichever button you want to program on the remote.
  2. On the overhead Opener panel, press and release the SRT (learn) button. The indicator light next to the SRT button will begin to blink and the overhead light on the front of the opener will flash once.
  3. Release the button on the remote.
  4. Test the remote by pressing the chosen button as you normally would, the door should move.

Reprogram the Keyless Entry as following:

  1. On the overhead Opener panel, press and release the "SRT" (learn) button.
  2. On the Keyless Entry keypad, enter your desired 4-digit pass code then press and hold the “ENTER” button.
  3. After the overhead Opener Light flashes, release the keypad “ENTER” button.
  4. Test the keypad by entering your pass code and then pressing the “ENTER” button, the door should begin to move.

This is a great place to go for advice, especially if you're low on funds and you could resolve the problem before calling and paying a service call, if it's an easy fix. I'm glad you are there for me.
