Can I reprogram my garage door opener so the lost remote won't open the door?

We lost one of 2 remotes to our Sears garage door opener. Can I replace it? Can I reprogram the opener so the lost remote won't open the door?

You can purchase a new remote from any Sears retail store, or order one online from Sears.com. You will need to get the model number off of your remote and order that number. If you can't read the number on the remote, get the model number off the motor unit of the opener and order by model.

You can reprogram the opener by holding the learn button on the back of the motor unit of the opener in until the LED on the opener flashes. This erases all the codes in the opener, you will need to reprogram the remotes. The lost remote won't be programmed, so it won't work.

To reprogram the remotes, hold the button on the remote in and press and release the learn button on the opener and release it. The LED will blink and the door will start to move.

This is a great place to go for advice, especially if you're low on funds and you could resolve the problem before calling and paying a service call, if it's an easy fix. I'm glad you are there for me.
