Why will my garage
My garage door only opens about 12 inches and stops .

Release the garage door from the opener and open it. Check for binding and hard to move areas. If the door is binding it may just need lubrication. It may also need new rollers or have damaged rails. If the door works smoothly, raise it half way and release it. If it stays, it is balanced. If it goes up or down it may have a spring problem.
If the door is OK, you have a problem in your opener and we need some more information.
