What material would be suitable?

What material would be suitable for the expansion space between a paving stone driveway and the home foundation. I have used both particle board and lumber, but of course, both are very susceptible to rapid deterioration. Would appreciate your suggestions.

There are a number of products which would be suitable for this arrangement. These products are generally used for expansion joints or control joints in concrete floors. They can be purchased from most building supply stores. They are: asphalt impregnated fiberboard, closed cell expanded polyethylene foam, cork -- bonded together with an insoluble phenolic resin.

This is a great place to go for advice, especially if you're low on funds and you could resolve the problem before calling and paying a service call, if it's an easy fix. I'm glad you are there for me.
