I boughta house almost two years ago, and the garage door looksto bepretty new, but I cannot make it open from outside the house, using the remote control that is outside the garage door on the wall.I can open it with the remote control on my van, and from the wall, at the door going inside the house from the garage. Also, I have another remote control in my other car and it is not working. I would like to contact some body that knows how to repair it.
Since you can open the door with a one remote control, and one hardwired button (in the garage on the wall) there appears to be nothing wrong with the garage door opener or the receiver. If you open the back of the remote control in your van, you will likely find a battery and a series of little switches which can be in the on or off position. Do not touch these, but use them as a model to configure the switches in the remote control in the other car which is not working. If the switches are the same, swap the batteries in the openers to see if the problem is simply a dead battery. With respect to the wall mounted control of the outside of your garage, it is likely controlled by a keypad. If you do not know the code, the door will not open. These panels are relatively inexpensive, so it may be better to go to a store specializing in garage door openers to purchase another one, or the store will send someone out to repair it. Manage My Home does not recommend specific contractors, but they can be found in the Yellow Pages under garage door openers.
