Should over head wires be solid or stranded?

Wires spanning more than 4 or 5 feet should not be solid conductor.
Check overhead wires going to outbuildings (garages, cabanas, etc.). You can see at the panel boxes or receptacles whether the wire is solid or stranded. Solid conductor cables can be strapped to a support wire.
