Does a garage door opener have to be on a separate circuit, or can the garage lights or outlets share the same circuit?
A separate circuit is not required for a garage door opener, however in many jurisdictions, it cannot be plugged into an existing electrical outlet via an extension cord. A new outlet, near the unit is required. In some jurisdictions, the outlet must be a ground fault interrupter (GFI).
