This fan blows outdoor air across the hot condenser coil, cooling the hot Freon gas. The gas inside the coil condenses as it cools and the air passing over the coil heats up. This is how we dump the house heat into the outdoor air.

The outdoor fan is located in the condenser cabinet. The fan may rotate vertically diagonally or horizontally, depending on the manufacturer. The majority of modern units are horizontal and discharge through the top of the unit. The fan draws air in through the sides of the condenser coil and discharges the warmer air through the top of the cabinet.

This is a great place to go for advice, especially if you're low on funds and you could resolve the problem before calling and paying a service call, if it's an easy fix. I'm glad you are there for me.
