  • A simple toy for newborns

Here's free amusement for young babies, who see sharply contrasting colors and respond to faces. On a piece of white paper, draw a simple face in black, with big circles for eyes and a big smile. Tape it a few feet from your baby.

  • Use greener cleaners

When buying cleaning products, choose ones that don't give off harmful fumes. For example, avoid products that contain chlorine bleach or ammonia.

  • Wash before wearing

Wash newborn's clothing in a non-irritating laundry soap before the first wearing to soften them and remove dirt and dye residue.
