Summary

The User Experience team at Sears Holdings Online Services is looking for a Front-end Developer with at least three years of experience (and a great sense of humor) to join our close-knit group of web professionals. The ideal candidate should be able to quickly hand-code clean HTML markup and CSS from Photoshop comps and wireframes and have a strong understanding of interaction design and user-centered design methods and practices. Our team is a motivated group of cross-functional team members who work hard every day to improve the user experience at Manage My Life, Sears PartsDirect, and other Sears Holdings Online Services sites. If you're a passionate front-end developer with professional experience with design and development teams on large-scale projects in an Agile development environment and you enjoy collaboration at all times, then we'd like to talk to. Responsibilities

  • Create clean, precise, browser-compatible code and reusable code libraries
  • Program Web sites using XHTML/HTML, CSS and XML, including semantic markup practices and table-less designs
  • Turn business and user requirements into elegant user interfaces and compelling interactive experiences
  • Create cutting-edge code that align with the architecture of the sites while enhancing the user experience
  • Work collaboratively on multi-disciplinary team

Qualifications

  • 3+ years experience coding to W3C standards with XHTML, HTML, DHTML, CSS, XML, RSS, JavaScript, AJAX and other related interactive technologies
  • 1+ years experience in e-commerce, retail merchandising/marketing, advertising, product development, e-commerce or related fields
  • Experience as a consultant, preferred
  • Strong XHTML/HTML, CSS and XML programming skills, including semantic markup practices and table-less designs
  • Proficiency in Flash, Adobe Photoshop/Image Ready and Adobe Illustrator (or equivalent Macromedia software)
  • The ability to create clean, precise browser-compatible code and reusable code libraries
  • Knowledge to turn business and user requirements into elegant user interfaces and compelling interactive experiences
  • A comprehensive online portfolio
  • Excellent communication skills and a respect for other perspectives
  • Expert conflict resolution skills, with the ability to negotiate with stakeholders
  • Organized, self-directed, efficient and able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks across multiple projects, under tight deadlines

And it's a big plus if you have experience with the following

  • JQuery, Prototype and script.aculo.us libraries
  • Agile development environments
  • Web site localization issues and Web accessibility standards
  • IBM Web Sphere, JSP, Swing, Struts, Jruby, Ruby and Rails (a definite asset, but not required)
  • Agency/design firms
  • Degree in marketing, visual communication, graphic arts, computer science or related area
